This is not a Genesis Framework specific question, but I get it often enough that it’s worth including in a quick tutorial here on my blog.
I receive support questions on a regular basis from people using a Mac, who are unable to load the Genesis Framework or child theme to their site, because the upload will only allow for the upload of a zip file and their framework or theme download is not in this format
This is because, by default, a Mac will automatically unzip all files, so when you download the Genesis Framework from my.studiopress.com, (or a child theme from Pretty Darn Cute or other third party vendor), the file will automatically download and unzip.
To resolve this, you will need to compress all the files again, or update your computer’s settings so that a file which is downloaded from the internet is not automatically unzipped.
To do that, go to Safari > Preferences > General > uncheck the box to Open “safe” files after downloading.
That’s it. Wasn’t that easy?
