The Pretty Sweet theme from Pretty Darn Cute Design, is a pretty, masonry (aka “Pinterest”) style theme. It’s one of the easiest themes to set up – it’s just a matter of selecting post excerpts for each post, and the site will automatically update with your latest blog posts, in the masonry layout.
I recently had a support question from someone who likes the theme, but wants a regular blog layout, rather than the masonry style layout. So, how difficult would this be to accomplish?
Actually, it’s pretty straight forward – if you have access to the editor in your WordPress dashboard, you can update the functions.php file directly. If your hosting company doesn’t allow dashboard editing, you’ll need to update your site via cPanel, or FTP.
To do it from your dashboard, navigation to your functions.php file (Dashboard > Appearance > Editor > Theme Functions, and then remove this section:
Once this has been removed, saved your functions.php file, and voila – your site will display a blog on your home page, just like the demo’s blog page here (link)
As always, when making updates to your functions.php file, have a fresh functions.php file available; one small mistake when updating functions.php, and you will crash your site – you won’t be able to update it from your dashboard at this point; you’ll need to log into your hosting site (via cPanel or FTP), and load a fresh functions.php file.
Have you purchased the Pretty Sweet theme, but not yet installed it? Did you know I offer a theme setup service? I can have your site set up to match the theme’s demo settings in under 24 hours. You can learn more here: (24 hour theme setup)
