Welcome to Day One!
It’s Thursday evening, and in under an hour, my flight to Australia will depart.
I’m hoping that I will find some time each day to blog a little about what the day has brought, and tell you a little bit about Australia.
Getting here has been a long, stressful journey! Both my father in Australia, and my mother-in-law in Florida have had health scares in the past two weeks, and because of this, we had some major changes in our plans. At this point, I know I will be relieved when the flight takes off, and I’m in the air.
The flight from DFW to Brisbane is the world’s longest non-stop commercial flight. It will take about 16 hours, and because of crossing the international date line, I will arrive in Brisbane on Saturday, July 5, having completely missed the 4th of July celebrations.
I’m looking forward to seeing my family. My parents visited us in Texas three years ago, but it’s been eight years since I saw my brother, and almost ten years since I saw my two sisters. It’s been over 14 years since Keith was back in Australia. I wonder how much has changed?
I’m looking forward to some downtime – it’s been a while since I had a vacation!
See you on the other side!
Enjoy every second Susan.
