In the Restored 316 Facebook community, someone asked how to add a link to an affiliate disclosure under the post title in the Captivating theme. By default, the theme displays the post categories under the post title.
You can accomplish this by either editing your functions.php file directly, or using the Genesis Simple Edits plugin.
Method 1: Add a link to an Affiliate Disclosure in the Captivating Theme by updating the functions.php file directly.
The Captivating theme already has the “Post Meta” information added in the functions.php file. By default, it contains the post date. Look for this in your functions.php file:
Edit it to this:
As always, take care when editing your functions.php file directly, as you can crash your site if you’re not paying attention to what your adding/editing. For this reason, I recommend having a fresh download of your functions.php file available. In my example, I have put the affiliate disclosure text below the categories by adding a line break. You can skip the line break if you want it to display on the same line.
If you are using a theme other than the Captivating theme, check your functions.php file to see if there is any similar code for the Entry Meta before adding the code snippet above.
Method 2: Add a link to an Affiliate Disclosure in the Captivating Theme by using the Genesis Simple Edits plugin
First, you’ll need to install and activate the Genesis Simple Edits plugin.
Then, go to Dashboard > Genesis > Simple Edits > Entry Meta (Below Content), add the following code snippet (switching out the URL to my site with the link to your own Affiliate Disclosure page).
If you’re using the Restored 316 Captivating Theme, or any other theme built on the Genesis Framework, and are interested in having me implement this for you, send me a note!
